A Cyprus tax return for tax year 2026 concerns income earned in 2026. It is not the same as a return for 2025 submitted during calendar year 2026. Start by identifying the income year on your records and the official return before choosing rates or a calculator year. This guide focuses on preparation, not completing or submitting an official return.
Which tax year are you preparing for?
The Cyprus government states that the tax reform took effect on 1 January 2026. Its new individual income-tax bands apply to tax year 2026, not to the 2025 income year. If your return concerns 2025, use the separate Cyprus tax return 2025 guide for that year's context, and independently check current filing notices rather than assuming a deadline from another year applies.
Income-tax bands for tax year 2026
The government's Business in Cyprus service lists the following individual income-tax bands. These apply progressively to taxable income, not automatically to gross salary.
- €0–€22,000: 0%
- €22,001–€32,000: 20%
- €32,001–€42,000: 25%
- €42,001–€72,000: 30%
- Above €72,000: 35%
Contributions, exemptions and eligible deductions require separate consideration. For the calculation explanation rather than filing preparation, see the existing 2026 income-tax bands guide. Do not treat the tax-free band as proof that no return or contribution is required.
Organise records before estimating
Keep records separated by income year and income category. A preparation checklist can include employment certificates and payslips, business income and expenses, rental statements, interest and dividend records, contribution statements, and evidence for any exemption or deduction you intend to claim. Keep residence-day records where relevant. This is an organisational checklist, not an exhaustive list of official required documents.
Reconcile your annual totals with the underlying documents. A calculator entry is not evidence that a deduction is eligible; retain supporting records and check the applicable conditions in the Tax Department's current guidance.
Filing platform and deadline: check official notices
The Tax Department's announcement about individual returns without accounts states that the 2025 return uses TAXISnet, while the 2026 return will use Tax For All (TFA) and incorporate the reform. This platform statement is not confirmation that the 2026 return is already open for submission.
No confirmed filing deadline for the 2026 income-year return was established by the official sources reviewed for this guide on 17 October 2026. Check the Tax Department's current announcements and deadlines before relying on a submission date. Filing obligations can differ by circumstances; consult the official individual-return guidance rather than inferring an obligation solely from the bands above.
Use an estimate as a cross-check, not a submission
Open the Cyprus Tax Calculator with 2026 selected to explore the supported income categories, deductions and contributions using your own figures. Check that the selected year matches your records. The result is an indicative estimate: Zeno FinLab does not prepare or submit your official tax return, determine your filing obligation or provide professional tax advice.
