Financial Compass: what your figures point at

Compass reads the results you already have — your surplus, buffer, borrowing costs and income mix — and sets out what stands out. Calculated first, explained plainly, with nothing recommended.

Frequently asked questions

Compass ranks the six Healthcheck dimensions and shows the lower-scoring areas, a qualifying strength and the factor that stands out most clearly.

It reads your latest Healthcheck figures. Temporary income and spending controls let you explore an adjusted reading without changing the saved snapshot.

No. The ranking and focus are calculated deterministically from the Healthcheck factor scores. AI is optional and only explains the calculated reading.

They show what is strongest or under most pressure against fixed thresholds. They do not know your personal goals and are observations, not instructions.

The PDF includes your position, factor scores, ordered priorities, cash outlook, temporary adjustments and any AI observations you explicitly generated.

The Compass is a plain reading of your Healthcheck results. It is designed to help you see which parts of your financial position stand out, based only on the figures you entered. No AI is used to produce this reading.

What it considers

It looks at the same six dimensions as the Healthcheck score: cash buffer, debt cost, debt payments, monthly surplus, leverage and income concentration. Each is ranked by its factor score.

How to read the output

The two lowest-scoring dimensions are shown as potential areas of attention, and the highest-scoring one is shown as a strength when it scores 70 or above. Each item includes the underlying figure, so you can see exactly why it was selected.

Hypothetical example

Someone with cash covering 1.5 months of spending and 30% of income going to debt payments would likely see "Cash buffer" and "Debt payments" listed first, because those factor scores are lowest. If none of their income depended on a single source, "Income concentration" could appear as a strength.

Important limitations

  • The Compass is an educational analytical tool, not personalised financial advice.
  • It ranks factors against fixed thresholds and does not know your goals or priorities.
  • Its reading is only as reliable as the figures entered in the Healthcheck.
